A Christmas Cabaret: The New Holiday Tradition

I love Christmas. It’s that one time of year where we dust off the ornaments, decorate our homes very minimally or Griswold like (whatever floats your boat), and we listen to music that we have heard for years and years. For me, Christmas just isn’t Christmas yet until I hear Silent Night by The Temptations, but I digress.

Christmas is the time where traditions are played out for everyone to see, and new traditions are born. Such was the case about 4 years ago when Bryson Holloway, Jim Penndorf and David Lintz decided that they wanted to create a fun show to celebrate everything that they loved about the holiday season and put their own spin on it. Under the name Class Act, they put on their first Christmas Cabaret at Theater Macon with their band and two performers.

It was such a success and the audiences loved it so much, that they decided to perform the show again the next year, adding in 3 more singers. Following the momentum from the first two years, last year they expanded the roster to 8 performers (one of the new performers being myself) and provided their audience with a fantastic night of music and laughter. This year is no different. They have found a beautiful medium of performing traditional and classic Christmas songs that we all love and cherish and doing them in a way that is diverse and exciting.

I look forward to doing this show because it showcases some of Macon and Middle Georgia’s best singers and actors all on one stage and creates a wonderful night of fun and entertainment for everyone in attendance. You’ll tap your feet, laugh, and may shed a tear or two. But they are happy tears. The 4th Annual Christmas Cabaret at Theatre Macon opens on Thursday, December 17th at 8pm and runs through Sunday, December 20th at 2:30pm. Tickets are available at the Theatre Macon box office or they can be purchased online at theatremacon.com.  Come out and enjoy a fantastic night of music that will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit.
