Gearing Up To Be A Great Macon Weekend (Or Two, or Three….)
Every now and then, I have to take a break from the scene to get recharged, so to speak. The holidays are always draining for me, and then you’ve got my son’s birthday- and my daughter’s is coming up next weekend… and then I have to plan their big birthday party for their friends.
I just have needed some “me” time.
But this weekend kicks off a series of events that I refuse to miss- and so should you. It’s going to be a damn good- no- a Great Macon Weekend!
The Rebirth Brass Band
January 16th, 8:00 pm
As shown on HBO’s “Treme”, I personally love a brass band anyway but put it together with the lovely Cox Capitol Theatre and the Moonhanger crew? SOLD! If that’s not enough for you- check this out:
The Youth Actors Company of Theatre Macon: CATS!
January 16th & 17th, 8:00 pm; 18th, 2:30 pm
The YAC, as they are known, always put on a fantastic show. We’re lucky to have so many local options for theatre, and Macon is known to put out many a talented actor. Carrie Preston, the Haynie Brothers, and Grey Henson should all sound familiar by now. Each came out of that program.
Mercer Basketball
January 17th, 4:00 pm
Come see me and cheer on our hometown boys WHO BEAT DUKE LAST YEAR- I can’t say it enough- WHO BEAT DUKE.
Madre Padre at the Hummingbird with Good Night Alive
January 17th, 10:00 pm
More local music! Come see me at the Bird while I, and others, jam out to Good Night Alive and Madre Padre at the Bird. It’s always a good time!
#SundayBrunchDayFUNDAY!!!
I’ll be kicking it off for Sunday with brunch at Dovetail, and then preparing to host some of my friends in my home for dinner that evening…. you know if you’re invited 😉 But after that…
Macon Pops
February 27th and 28th
Come check out the event that the Macon Pops Jazz Quartet is putting on with Corner Concerts on the 27th- they’ve given us a clue for where it will be with this photo (from their Facebook page):
And then the next night you will NOT want to miss The Music of Macon, featuring:
- Chuck Leavell
- Jimmy Hall
- Amy Schwartz Moretti
- Robert McDuffie
- Floco Torres
- Daniel NeSmith
- Louise Warren
- Joshua Neal
- And More BIG Surprises!
Guys, Macon Pops is my number ONE cannot miss event all year long. Get a babysitter lined up now, make plans for dinner- or even eat there with catering provided- but whatever you do make your plans now. Tickets are affordable! They start at just $10 for the most amazing set of shows I’ve ever seen anywhere.
Alright, well I think I’ve got y’all up to speed for at least a little bit- hope to see y’all soon….
Love to all y’all,
Molly
