I Hate Salads
And yet, I eat them all the time. Heck I’m eating one *right now*, which is what made me think of this.
I should clarify: I like the items that go in the salads- tomatoes, blue cheese, steak medallions, no dressing though- that’s just extra fat and many times they really don’t taste that good anyway. But the actual greens bore the bejesus out of me.
However I still buy them all the time. Like in my Mulberry Market CSA share.
Generally, at least half of the bags go bad which drives me even more insane because I can’t stand to waste food.
So, what can I do to make the salad greens more interesting?
I guess I could cook them. But that seems to take up too much time and then you have to add butter or other oils and doesn’t cooking them to begin with take away some of the nutritional value?
I could blend them in a blender and make a smoothie with some fruits. Do I have a blender?
I literally just Googled ” what to do with salad greens” and got a link with some suggestions. Like… use with pasta salad. One person mentioned use in pizza… but I would end up eating that pizza alone. I could make a mini pizza I guess, kind of like what I’ve seen them do at Fountain of Juice, and then just not cook it and toss other stuff on it. But I guess that’s really just a salad on top of pita bread or whatever.
I think my solutions is just to use less salad greens on my plate, so I’ll actually eat them all. It worked just a minute ago at least. Now, I just need to repeat this pretty much everyday because my kids think they’re eating grass when I make them a salad. Or maybe someone out there wants to trade?
Or maybe just stick to eating the ones in restaurants? But honestly I finish all of the other stuff before I finish the greens. <sigh>
I just need to keep telling myself how good this is for me….
Love to all y’all,
Molly
