Monday’s Suck- Let’s Talk Jewelry!
There’s not much more that sucks than a Monday- especially when you have a whole five days to wait til an event like the Bragg Jam Patron’s Party and Bragg Jam itself (more about those in a later post). So what do I do to feel better about the day?
Shop for jewelry.
Jewelry can make pretty much any day better, even if you aren’t actually buying anything just looking at it online and visualizing how you would incorporate it in to your wardrobe helps. Of course- that’s exactly what gets me (and my wallet) in trouble, the whole visualization thing.
However I digress. Today I’m going to talk about a few websites, new to me and old to me, that I love to look over.
I’m new to this website. And honestly, I’m pretty fanatical about shopping from independent designers. That being said, this website has an awfully handy email blast which always seems to suck me in.
This website is handy for someone who needs a lot of costume jewelry at inexpensive prices. They run all kinds of specials and sales. For me, I get a lot of ideas for my various photo shoots.
This is an old favorite of mine. My first Diana Warner item is a pair of her crystal Disco Ball earrings, purchased for the 2010 FOODIE! Awards, seen here:

I have continued to use Diana’s pieces in a number of my photo shoots as well as for most any other occasion. Earrings are the number one accessory I cannot go without, seconded by a Tiffany silver necklace (and is only taken off or substituted when something else is more suitable). I actually own three pairs of the disco ball earrings, along with three pairs of the Sarah Sparkle Stud (three different colors) in the tear drop shape, and the small oval studs. I also own the Tara (pictured below) and another one that I do not see on their site anymore.
So… yeah. I own a lot of her pieces. That doesn’t even get in to the necklaces I own or the bracelets or anything else. My favorite cocktail ring that I own is pictured below:

However my newest find is Sloan and Themis
Every now and then it’s my honor to have a designer reach out to me, either they have been sent by someone else or they run across me some other way. This would be the case with Ms. Claire Bruce of Sloan and Themis. I will be posting an in depth interview with her later on, but for now this is what I have found on her site that I especially love. The Aimee necklace was the first to jump out at me, I love vintage jewels and this incorporates a lovely vintage crystal piece:
But what I think makes Sloan and Themis really unique is that they will take personal, keepsake objects such as a key to a first home or even dogtags from a family members who is/was a solider and convert them in to wearable, beautiful jewelry.
So, hopefully I have made your Monday and little brighter and even if I haven’t- at least you just have a little while more to go.
