12 DJ’s, One Party: The Over-Do Day Party at Roasted Cafe

One of my very favorite places in Macon is Roasted Cafe. This is my general go-to spot for working outside of my home because I can come here to get great food or coffee no matter what time of the day. And then there are some evenings when they have special live entertainment.

This upcoming Saturday is one of their DJ events: The Over-Do Day Party. Generally, they feature 8 local DJ’s spinning around 30 minutes per set. But this Saturday they will have 12. If you aren’t familiar with the work that goes in to being a DJ, or if you just like really good music, you should come and check this out.

Each DJ has their own unique style, with people like my friend Roger Riddle who spins everything from today’s hits to Motown to someone who will have more of an electronic vibe. It’s also cool to see how they transition from one DJ to the next, carefully setting up next to one another and switching of. It’s a real art.

This is headed up by Macon’s own DJ Bruce Wonder and DJ Shawty Slim, Bruce has been on tour around the world with various acts as of late- and Slim is the tour DJ for the one and only B.o.B.

By the way- there’s also NO cover for this event. Roasted will be providing amazing food and drink as well as hookahs during this event. So, just in case you didn’t see it in the photo, the address is 442 Second Street in Downtown Macon.

Oh and, as an aside, I got the Chicken Shawerma today and it was amazing! I hadn’t had it before and was trying to find something on the menu I hadn’t tried yet. #winning
